The Brito Family - Successful Industries of Matosinhos
The Brito family is a renowned industrial dynasty from Mato Grosso, whose history is intrinsically linked to Portuguese industry, particularly the soap and perfume industries. It all began with Achilles Alves de Brito, who began working at the Claus & Schweder factory in 1903 and later founded his own company, Ach. Brito, in 1918. Over four generations, the Brito family managed to maintain and prosper the business, facing challenges such as the nationalization of Claus & Schweder during World War I and the difficulties following decolonization. Today, Ach. Brito continues to be a benchmark in the soap and perfume industry in Portugal, with its century-old brands Ach. Brito and Claus Porto.
